Ask Theo a question

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I chose the master's at KTH to further develop my design skills and knowledge. The school embodies a vibrant culture of innovation and collaboration. Being surrounded by passionate and driven peers from various disciplines constantly inspires me to push the boundaries of creativity and technical expertise in industrial design engineering. This dynamic atmosphere is precisely what I was looking for to advance my skills and career.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

One of the best aspects of the Integrated Product Design programme are the opportunities to work with companies in industry both during the thesis as well as within certain courses. This has increased my confidence in my design skills and also further realise what my future career will be like. This makes me feel that the programme has been excellent at preparing me for work in industrial design engineering.

How is student life in Stockholm?

In Stockholm, there's always something going on. During the winter, Stockholm is incredible for outdoor activities such as ice skating and long-distance skiing. But in the summer, it has been incredible swimming in the lakes with coursemates and enjoying such a beautiful city. At the university, you can take part in activities with the machine section. It can be a brilliant opportunity to make friends with other students in other master's and undergraduate programmes.

I have joined a running club with over 900 members, many of whom are KTH alumni. Playing squash with locals has also helped me improve my Swedish and adjust to Swedish culture. They can give you brilliant recommendations: for example, since Stockholm is the capital city, the nightlife is great, and I have been shown some fantastic venues. There are also many concerts and festivals during the year, which are worth attending.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

In my undergraduate programme at Leicester in the UK, I studied product design, which shares some similarities with the current master's programme at KTH. However, I've noticed some significant differences. Att I have gained a stronger foundation in the theoretical aspects of design, which has greatly boosted my confidence. Additionally, I believe that I have significantly expanded my technical knowledge, making m KTH, I feel thae a more well-rounded designer and engineer.
