Why choose KTH?

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is Sweden's leading technical university. Being a KTH student involves more than just engaging in studies. By choosing KTH, you gain access to a vibrant student life and a prestigious academic environment.

KTH in brief

Since its establishment in 1827, KTH has been at the centre of many technological advances in Sweden. In the early 1950s, the country's first nuclear reactor was installed on campus, at the same time as Sweden's very first TV station began broadcasting just across the street. Over nearly two centuries, KTH has become one of the most prominent technical universities in Europe and globally.

In 1917, KTH's iconic main campus, characterised by its courtyard building, was constructed in the northern part of central Stockholm, on the edge of the Royal National Park- a historic site at the disposal of the Swedish monarch since the 15th century. The reigning King Carl XVI Gustaf is the university's guardian, and the royal crown has been incorporated in the university seal since 1827.
