Ask Paloma a question

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I always dreamt about studying abroad. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in my home university I was looking for a university where I could polish the knowledge I already had and put it into practice. I found the Master’s programme in Aerospace Engineering at KTH to be the ideal choice, as it offers hands-on practice both within the courses and through numerous student projects.

Have you chosen a specialisation track within the programme? If Yes, which track and why?

Yes! I have chosen the Aeronautics track because I am very interested in aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and aircraft propulsion, and I found this track to be the one that aligned with my interests the best.

What are some of your favourite courses so far?

My favourite course has definitely been SG2224 Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics. It is a project-based course where students work in groups on a certain problem using Ansys Fluent. It was a very interesting and rewarding course. I also enjoyed SG2215 Compressible Flow a lot. It is a more theoretical course but it also has lab sessions that involve the visualization of shock waves in a shock tube and taking measurements from a biconvex airfoil in a supersonic wind tunnel.

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

I am enjoying it very much. The courses are overall very encouraging, and they make you challenge yourself to do better and better. KTH is a very international university, so it's quite easy to get to know people and make friends. The work-life balance is excellent, and there are a lot of extra activities for students, like projects, student associations and career fairs. For example, I am working on one of the student projects doing CFD simulations of a wing in ground effect.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

If you are thinking about it, but you are not 100% sure, I would suggest giving it a go. When I was submitting my application I had lots of doubts and worries and felt very lost, but once I came here all of my doubts disappeared. Moving abroad on you own is never easy, but it is indeed and amazing and unforgettable experience.
