Niclas Roxhed

Biomedical Microsystems

Niclas Roxhed conducts research in biomedical microsystems, focusing on the development of drug delivery and sampling systems, and sensors for medical diagnostics. His work aims to advance medical technology by creating innovative microscale solutions for more efficient drug administration and precise diagnostic tools.

He leads a research team at KTH and has been affiliated with Bob Langer’s lab at MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. He is also the director of MedTechLabs, an interdisciplinary center for medical technology research in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm.

His research has resulted in over 150 scientific papers and more than 40 patent families. He is a co-founder of several start-ups translating his research into commercial applications. In addition to his academic work, he serves on the editorial board of the IEEE Journal on MicroElectroMechanical Systems and is involved in international conference steering committees in the field of MEMS and microneedle technology.
