Mohammad Reza Hesamzadeh’s research focuses on energy markets and regulation, with an emphasis on electricity market design and analysis. His work applies advanced mathematical modeling, operations research, and economic principles to optimize market structures, pricing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks for sustainable energy systems.

A key area of his research involves developing market models that integrate renewable energy sources, ensuring efficiency, stability, and fairness in electricity markets. His studies explore the interactions between market participants, grid operators, and policymakers, addressing challenges related to energy pricing, congestion management, and market power mitigation.

He has published extensively on these topics, including two books and numerous peer-reviewed papers. His contributions to the field have earned multiple awards, and he serves on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Energy Market, Policy and Regulation. He has also provided expert advice and consulting services to both private and government sectors on energy market regulation and design.
