Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?
Sports has been my biggest interest so far in my life. After doing my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science, I wanted to study something that combines my engineering background and interest in sports. The Sports Technology programme was a perfect find for me as it includes the field of sports science while still focusing on engineering. It wasn't a hard decision at all to come to study here at KTH.
What are the best aspects of your programme?
The courses in the programme cover a wide range of topics related to both hardware and software. That is perfect for me since I am interested in multiple areas, and I wasn’t sure which area I wanted to focus on more when I started. If you can't find courses that align with your interest within the programme, we also have a lot of freedom in course selections. The School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health and the whole KTH curriculum has plenty to offer in our field.
What are some of your favourite courses so far?
I like the course Biomechanics of Human Movement in the fall semester. I have been interested in biomechanics for a long time but never properly studied it before. The group projects in the course are closely related to the lectures, and they push you to utilize what you learned in class. With the intense schedule and projects, it was a really fulfilling course.
How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?
Studies at KTH are very project-based, especially in our programme. In my Bachelor's there were much more hand-written exams. I prefer this learning here at KTH, as we often deal with close-to real-life problems. The length of the semester is about the same as what I had before, but some courses last for only one period, which is half of a semester. In my opinion, it is more effective as you get to only focus on one or two courses per period.
How is student life in Stockholm?
There are plenty of options when it comes to student life in Stockholm. Within KTH, the student union (THS) organizes events like tenta pub, which is a big party happening every period after the exam week and can be super fun. Each chapter in KTH has weekly pubs that is open during the week. Sometimes they even sell patches and special drinks made by students. There are also student associations ranging from sports to music that all students can join. If you want, attending pubs or events organized by other schools in Stockholm is also possible!
How would you describe your time at KTH so far?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at KTH so far. The Sports Technology programme is small in terms of the number of students, but I am more than happy to have made friends from all over the world. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, which makes it even more interesting both in and outside of school. Stockholm is a lovely city with proximity to nature everywhere. I feel like the first year went by a litte bit too fast, and I am excited to see what comes up next.
