Ask Ahmad a question

Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?

KTH aligns with my interests by providing in-depth soil mechanics studies and hands-on experience! Also, work-life balance and a culture of sustainability are my top priorities for future growth, and Sweden fits the need perfectly.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

I have the flexibility to choose any course I want, although it's important to keep in mind the prerequisites for each course. Further, I will be taught by lecturers who are involved in real-life projects, and I will also model and design buildings with cutting-edge tools that make my work process convenient.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

My previous studies in Indonesia consisted, on average, of 10 courses each semester. This is a huge difference because I will be studying just 4 courses each semester at KTH allows me to be more focused when studying rather than overwhelming myself when exam days are approaching.

What do you want to do after graduating?

I aim to gain practical experience and immerse myself in the professional work culture of Sweden or Europe, particularly to learn and adopt their exemplary work-life balance. This is a culture I wish to emulate and bring back to my own country.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

I would like to say that you are on the right path, especially if you think about sustainability. At KTH, you'll engage in green activities and study everything with an environmental focus. Meeting, collaborating, studying, socializing, and having fun with people from diverse cultures will become your reality. Come and experience this exciting atmosphere for yourself!

During your application period, what was the most useful resource that you got from KTH? For example, KTH's website, webinars, ask a KTH student, etc.

In October 2023, I had no idea about KTH and Sweden in detail. However, I was researching everything about them and the first website that appeared on Google was KTH Website. KTH offers a large amount of information on the website, including how to apply, entry requirements, courses, research, lecturers, and everything in between. They even provide helpful tips on how is life as a student in Stockholm (in the KTH student blog). If this was not enough, I could also contact students, staff, and alumni with ease. I collected all the information I wanted in less than a week!
