Ask Ziyi a question

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

Nowadays, the real estate and construction management industry highly values sustainability, and KTH has a strong reputation in green building and environmental protection which attracted me the most. Additionally, the programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers both real estate and construction management, staying aligned with the latest industry trends. I am also drawn to the programme's diverse and international learning environment, which brings together students from around the world.

Have you chosen a specialisation track within the programme?

I chose the “Architectural Design and Construction Project Management” track based on my previous study and interest. To this point, I have gained extensive knowledge and delved deeply into sustainable development in construction management. Additionally, the programme's flexibility has allowed me to take numerous courses in real estate, which will help me develop a broader perspective for the future.

What are some of your favourite courses so far?

I find every course intriguing and practical, but one of my favourites is “Project Development and Architectural Concepts” (AI2808). The professor combined perspectives from architects and engineers, and the field trips have deepened my understanding of construction management.

I also really like “Innovations for the Emerging City, Openlab Multidisciplinary Project Course” (MF2065), which is an interdisciplinary project course based on challenge driven innovation. We learn and apply Design Thinking in order to develop solutions and innovations to a given societal challenge, on behalf of an external public sector client (the City of Stockholm and Region Stockholm).

How would you describe your time at KTH so far?

My time at KTH so far has been a wonderful adventure. Studying and living in such a multicultural environment is incredibly rewarding. Beyond lectures, seminars, and workshops, I participated in the Real Estate Strategy Game in Germany with eight classmates from my programme. We delved into the real estate market, developing win-win solutions to market problems, preparing for climate change consequences, and implementing environmental targets. Additionally, the diverse range of student activities has allowed me to meet many friends from different countries, broadening my horizons and enriching my experience.

How is student life in Stockholm?

I would like to use "lovely" to describe student life in Stockholm. The city offers a perfect blend of cultural, recreational, and academic activities. From exploring the picturesque archipelago to enjoying the city's numerous museums, cafes, and parks, there is always something waiting for me to explore. Moreover, the student union and community are active and welcoming, with numerous events and activities that make meeting new people easy and making unforgettable friendships.
