Future and career

A KTH degree is a sign of academic excellence, ambition and an innovative mindset. KTH graduates are highly attractive on the job market and have exceeded in a wide range of fields.

Truth in numbers

The latest career report shows that 97 per cent of those who graduated from KTH 2016-2018 have been in employment since they finished their degree. Of the international student population, 12 per cent go on to PhD studies at KTH or other renowned universities. Over half of graduates lead others in their work, and 11 per cent have already received their first managerial position.

A reputation that precedes you

A degree from KTH is a springboard to a successful career. KTH graduates quickly establish themselves on the job market with over 50 per cent landing their first job even before receiving their degree – much thanks to KTH’s strong reputation among employees. In the QS Graduate Employability Ranking 2022, KTH ranked as number 70 in the world for employer reputation.

Over 1,000 degree project proposals are posted in the KTH project portal each year by companies like Ericsson, SAAB, and Scania. Actually, 20 per cent of the students get their first employment through their degree projects. KTH Career services support students with career planning, career development seminars and job application.

Armada is the Student Union's career fair. Around 150 companies participate every year, allowing students to meet and network with their future employers.

The innovative mindset

As the home of the Nobel Prize, Sweden is known for its innovation and entrepreneurship. Swedes have invented everything from the steam turbine and dynamite to Bluetooth and Skype. At KTH Innovation, students get support to commercialise their business ideas, and over 10 per cent of KTH Alumni go on to start their own company.

A life-long relationship

There are around 100,000 KTH graduates world-wide, and the alumni community enables you to maintain and widen your social and professional network. KTH has 15 official alumni chapters in Brazil, Beijing, Shanghai, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, New York, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand and the United Kingdom. Apart from the chapters, there are also numerous KTH alumni groups offering exclusive social events and networking opportunities. Every year KTH hosts an annual Alumni Week with on-campus activities and celebrations at the chapters abroad.

Staying in Sweden

Many graduates want to stay in Sweden to work after they graduate. If you are a non-EU citizen, you can get a 12-month residence permit to look for employment or start your own business.
