Ask Sasha a question

Why did you choose this master’s programme at KTH?

I chose this programme because of my background in interior architecture. During my undergrad I had the opportunity to study abroad in Denmark where I grew a fondness of Scandinavia and was able to learn about this programme while visiting in Sweden. I always wanted to learn more about architectural lighting design as it was a small part of my bachelor’s studies, and this programme seemed like the best option for me.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

The best aspects of my programme are the variety of topics we learn about relating to lighting design and how hands on our activities and projects are. In this years programme we have a wide range of international students so another great aspect is how diverse our mindsets are and how you can really gain new perspectives learning from everyone and their different cultural and educational backgrounds.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

The studies differ a bit from my bachelor’s studies as our programme is only 16 people so it’s very interactive and we get a lot more feedback and get to give our input more because of that. Additionally, because it’s only a one year programme, classes are structured differently where in my previous university you would have different semesters and multiple classes per semester, but for this programme you have one class/topic for several weeks before you start the next class/topic.

How is student life in Stockholm?

I very much enjoy the student life here in Stockholm. Campus is so beautiful and there is always hustle and bustle around. I live on campus so luckily, I don’t have to commute every morning, but all the essentials are around me with grocery stores, restaurants, transportation, etc. There are always different things happening around campus and it creates a great environment!

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

I would say if you’re considering it, definitely apply. KTH is an amazing school with a beautiful campus, friendly people, a large variety of activities and event, and living and learning in Stockholm is an incredible opportunity!
