Emmanuel Brunei

Emmanuel Brunei holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of New England, Australia. He is a research associate at the Centre for Rural Criminology. He has a passion for understanding and working with communities in rural, remote, and regional areas to reduce offending. His work has focused on crime and development in rural areas generally, but specifically on farm crime victimisation, compliance with agri-food safety regulations, environmental crimes, and the criminalisation of cultures. Previously, Emmanuel taught and researched at Moi University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Mount Kenya University in Kenya. Emmanuel has a number of papers in refereed journals in the areas of farm crime, compliance with agri-food safety regulations, rural crime, environmental crime, and cultural criminology.

Joseph Kipkemboi Rono, PhD is a senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Psychology at Moi University in Kenya. After his PhD degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in 2002, Dr. Rono has taught and published in the areas of sociological theory, criminology, rural sociology, globalization, development, rural crimes; alcohol, drugs, female genital mutilation, youth and refugee studies, Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs), historical sociology, development studies, education; and personal, family and social relationships amongst others.
