LST-Day 2014 – Technologies for Personalized Medicine and Health

End of last year, the LST platform arranged a one day workshop “Frontiers in Life Science Technology at KTH”. Along the theme “Imaging, spectroscopy, modeling and simulations – from molecule to man” excellent lectures were given by highly renowned external lectures, as well as by KTH researchers from many different KTH departments. More than 150 registered participants came to listen to the lectures, to discuss and interact at the >50 posters and to enjoy a buffet dinner.

Given the impression from the workshop, one can conclude that KTH indeed has a very strong stand in the field, with interesting prospects for synergies within KTH and for further development. Citing Prof Kurt Wüthrich, Nobel Prize winner and one of the external lecturers of the workshop: I enjoyed participating in your workshop. I feel that you are embarking on a most interesting interdisciplinary venture, including important talent from the side of mathematics. I will follow with interest the development of your program.

On the 27th of November, it is time for this year's LST platform day “Frontiers in Life Science Technologies at KTH: Technologies for Personalized Medicine and Health.

Invitation letter and registration.

Invitation letter and registration for PhD students.

Location: Oskar Klein auditorium, Albanova University Center. The purpose is to bring together researchers at KTH, representing the full spectrum of life science related research at KTH, and to promote interaction and collaboration between the researchers. This year’s theme will be “Technologies for personalized medicine and health”. The workshop will contain two sessions. In the first session (12:00 – 18:00), a few external, highly renowned researchers active within the theme will each give a 40 min keynote “inspiration” lecture. These are intertwined with short (15 min) presentations by principal investigators (PIs) at KTH, giving perspectives and presenting their ongoing research. In the second session (18:00 – 20:00), a light meal will be served outside of the auditorium, and at the same time there will be a poster session, with posters presented by PhD students and researchers from KTH. In the second session, researchers at all levels, and PhD students in particular, are encouraged to interact and discuss. For PhD students, the workshop comprises a PhD course, where registration, full attendance, active participation (with poster) and a short written report after the workshop render 1,5 ECTS credits.
