The course consists of thorough reading of a selection of texts within a chosen area of relevance for research in art, technology and design. The specific choice of literature is decided together with the examiner in relation to the amount of credits and leaves time for the reflective and presenting parts. The course can be coordinated as a reading circle or similar.

After the course, the student should be able to
• give a thorough account of the theory, method, discourse, or similar for which the content of the specific iteration of the course has been designed
• account for how this content relates to research in general
• critically discuss its relevance for the students' own work
• in writing, or in other forms decided for the specific iteration of the course, present and discuss the course content, its strengths and weaknesses as well as, when applicable, its internal similarities and differences

Specific prerequisites
To be eligible for the course, students must have completed a masters´degree or have an equivalent level of education in technology, art or design (such as architecture, planning, civil engineering, design, arts and crafts, or fine arts) or affiliated subjects within the humanities and social sciences.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

- LIT1 - Literature assignment, 5.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
Other requirements for final grade
The examination consists of follow-ups in different forms such as written reflections, discussions, and/or seminars, where the examiner or other by the examiner appointed person discusses the literature with the student. The specific forms of examination are defined with each individual iteration of the course but should always include a written assignment. The course is graded pass/fail (P/F).
