Measuring & analyzing movement

To answer questions about the complexity of human movement and interaction with the environment, we measure and analyze motion, loading, and muscle actions. This is done with high precision at the Promobilia MoveAbility Lab, using state-of-the-art equipment and highly skilled personnel.

We also develop novel out-of-lab measurement technologies, with wearable sensors and/or smartphones.
A particular strength is our combination of experimental findings with computational musculoskeletal simulations and data-driven analyses.

Our goals are to measure and compute:

  • Body positions and movements
  • Interactive loads on a person from their surroundings
  • Internal joint and muscle forces
  • Visual gaze point
  • Muscle electrical activity and neuromuscular control
  • Muscle morphology, mechanical properties and composition
