Project information
The transition to sustainable society demands a shift from oil-based to bio-based materials. At the same time material production should not compete with food production. The overall goal of this project is cost-effective production of biopolymers using products derived from fermentation of syngas generated from complex biomass waste. This will be achieved by integrated processing technology allowing treatment and recycling of biological and chemical wastes and raw materials in a single step. The work will be performed in collaboration with several European universities, research institutes and companies. At Polymer Technology division we will concentrate on design, synthesis, characterization and testing of the biopolymers that will be prepared from the raw materials from syngas fermentation. The project is financed by EU.
