August 2024 Open lecture with Mimi Sheller

Mimi Sheller

Mimi Sheller, who is part of the research school's Scientific advisory board and Inaugural Dean of The Global School at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Massachusetts, held an open lecture at KTH. In her talk Planning for Mobility Justice: A Guide Towards Sustainable Mobility Futures, she explores how broader mobility justice efforts aim to challenge ’green gentrification’, confront ’climate coloniality’, and plan for more inclusive environments, infrastructures, and mobility cultures.

June 2024: Open lecture with Greg Marsden

11th of June, Transplace research school hosted professor Greg Marsden for an open lecture on the critical challenge of achieving net zero emissions in the transport sector: "Planning to Fail? From ambition to reality - the unwinding of carbon reduction commitments in the UK"

Greg Marsden is Professor of Transport Governance at the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds.
He is an expert on climate and energy policy in the transport sector and has researched issues surrounding the design and implementation of new policies for over 20 years covering a range of issues.  

March 2024: Open lecture with Jonna Bornemark

On March 5, 2024, Jonna Bornemark held an open lecture at a packed Hägerstensåsens medborgarhusabout, among other things, non-consciousness, sensuality, desire, fantasy and roaches.

Online lecture with Federico Savini

On February 7, 2024, Federico Savini gave an online lecture on the theme “Urban planning and degrowth: what, why and how”. The lecture was held within the TRANSPLACE PhD course: Theories of sustainability transition (FAG3189). The course covered theories and perspectives on the goals of and barriers to sustainability transition as well as strategies for transition in the field of planning. The lecture can be viewed online here

November 2023: Open Lecture with Julian Agyeman

Julian Agyeman

In november 2023, Professor Agyeman held an open lecture on his concept of just sustainabilities as a response to the ‘equity deficit’ of much sustainability thinking and practice. Julian Agyeman is a Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University. He originates the increasingly influential concept of just sustainabilities - the intentional integration of social justice and environmental sustainability.

The open lecture was held on 11 November at KTH and was arranged by the TRANSPLACE research school for sustainable planning and built environment.

The course deals with theories and perspectives on the goals for and obstacles to sustainability transition as well as strategies for transition in the field of planning. The course contains three thematic blocks with associated lectures, literature, assignments and seminars.

PhD course: Introduction to sustainability transition in theory and practice

An introductory course for PhD students within the research school TRANSPLACE. The course contains an introduction to sustainability transformation in transport planning and urban development, and an introduction to practice based research methods. The course consists of three thematic blocks with associated lectures, panel discussions, course literature and seminars.
