Jubica is from Rourkela, the steel city of Odisha, India. Her home university is Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
Her hobbies are singing, reading novels, and any sporting activity.
What made you choose KTH?
I chose KTH because of the rank it holds among all the European universities. I believe that KTH has the most dynamic ambiance, which has shaped me into a better thinker and a passionate learner. The flexibility of the material science subjects and choice of research has given me the extensive scope that has widened my analytical and practical skills. Sweden was a natural choice for me because of the sustainability activities that are followed here.
What are your impressions of Stockholm and Sweden?
I love Stockholm from the core of my heart. The variation of shades during sunrise and sunset, the different colours of the night sky, the amazing patterns of the clouds in the sky, the appearance of the trees, and the reaction of all the flora and fauna to the climate changes during the four seasons. Everything is so magical and unique. The excitement of Swedish Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, the calmness of the countryside, and the cherry blossoms in Easter are truly exceptional experiences.
What is your best memory from your time at KTH so far?
My best memory at KTH is the scholarship reception that was held on 27th August, 2018. It was really special to me.
Are there any differences between studying at KTH and your home university?
There’s a difference in the study pattern between my home university and KTH. At KTH the student learns the concepts from real projects. Even the lectures are highly interactive, and this enables a better understanding of the topic. Also, on top of that, there are numerous opportunities to showcase one’s talents on a wider platform.
What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?
For the prospective students, I would like to say that for every dream there is an opportunity at KTH. All you need to do is to grab it at the right time.
What do you see as the most significant aspects of your programme?
The most significant aspect of the engineering materials science is the design of the course content. Because I am from a mechanical background, I did not have much knowledge about metallurgy. But the first course “Micro and nano structures” helped me to get a good hold in the subject. Also, with every passing period as the course is unfolding itself, I am able to acquire a much broader spectrum of my field.
Are you taking part in any student activities?
I just took part in the Holi celebrations that took place around April. Due to time constraints, I could not attend many activities.
Do you have a dream job after graduating from KTH?
After graduating from KTH, I would like to get a job in a company that closely works with materials in Sweden.
