Alice
Alice is in her second year of the master's programme in Applied and Computational Mathematics. For the entire academic year 2023/2024, she was an exchange student at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
What are the best tips you would give to other students thinking about studying abroad?
Go! Anyone who has been abroad will tell you that because it is the most important thing. Not where you go or for how long, but that you actually take the chance. I've never met anyone who regretted studying abroad, only people who regretted not doing it.
Moreover, I would strongly recommend doing some research, both before you apply and before you go. Find out your options, so you know early on how it works, and you can set up a plan that works for you. Many things take longer than you first think. My pro tip is to read travel stories from previous exchange students to get tips and tricks!
In the end, it doesn't really matter where you go. You can't possibly know in advance how your studies abroad will turn out. Friends can be found everywhere, so try not to stress too much. It will be an experience regardless!
