Ellen Bergseth
Ellen Bergseth, Associate Professor in the Department of System and Component Design at KTH, is on a 40% leave to work at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).
Ellen Bergseth, whose research area is within machine elements with a focus on condition monitoring, applied for a position at Trafikverket and got the job. In her group at Trafikverket, many employees have joint positions between academia and Trafikverket.
At Trafikverket, Ellen manages projects within the Europe’s Rail initiative. Her role includes ensuring that Swedish conditions are taken into account when developing new solutions for the railway within the EU.
- It means a lot to gain insight into such a large organization and have the opportunity to learn from highly experienced professionals in the railway field. It's exciting to discover that I can contribute with my knowledge, says Ellen.
Ellen has previously participated in an exchange program at Scania funded by the PAUS program.
- At Scania, I continued my research and had a good system to work with alongside domain experts. At Trafikverket, almost everything is new, and since I am employed by Trafikverket, I have clear delivery requirements; if I don't succeed, the projects won't either. Although it requires more commitment from me, it means a lot for my development, says Ellen.
