Milan Horemuz
Professor in Geodesy
Geodesy is the science that deals with the determination of the size, shape, and gravitational field of the Earth, as well as geodynamic effects. Its primary practical task is the definition and realization of coordinate reference systems, as well as the development of methods for position determination, which form the basis for many applications such as navigation, construction, geographic databases, maps, monitoring of climate change effects, and many others.
Milan Horemuz has conducted research on the realization of local reference systems and the development and improvement of existing precise measurement methods for position determination. An example of research results is the concept of "control network in the air", which is the realization of a project-adapted reference system based on GNSS measurements that is currently used in several major infrastructure projects in Sweden.
The development and improvement of algorithms for data processing from various instruments are cornerstone in research on measurement methods. Here, one can mention the combination of measurements from GNSS, inertial navigation systems, and cameras used for positioning mobile mapping systems.
The main purpose of Milan's research is to make positioning more precise and reliable, thereby contributing to the digitization of planning and building processes and increasing the efficiency and sustainability of construction works.
