About Mehrdad Ghandhari Alavijh´s research:
Electric power systems are often considered to beas the most complex man-made dynamical systems for use in daily life. They consist of many individual elements connected together to form a large, complex system capable of generating, transmitting and distributing electrical energy over a large geographical area. RThe main objective of many researches in this subject area has largely examined been how to operate such large and complex systems in a cost-effective and secure manner. This is set against a background ofHowever, the environmental regulations, deregulated electricity markets and energy efficiency requirements will havinge a significant impact on operating existingtoday's and future's power systems.
The main objectives of our research group are to develop new methods, mathematical models and control strategies. The main contribution will be to operate power systems in a more efficient and intelligent manner to ensure the security and stability of the system, and also to meetfulfill the economical and environmental demandsconstraints. This can be done by utilizing advanced devices, monitoring, control, and communication technology.
Modern society is strongly dependent on electricity, and therefore wide-area power outages normally have paralyzing effects on the society. It is anticipatedbelieved that the results of our research will contribute to a highly- reliable ility of power supply.
