About Alexander Balatskys Research:

The topic of Alexander Balatsky’s research is the investigation of the phases and states of condensed matter systems, and how we can control and manipulate these states on the atomic scale.

Nanotechnology requires us to be able to accurately control the properties of matter at an atomic level. Going forward, the technology will enable us to resolve the properties of matter – be it electronic, liquid, solid or gas – at a smaller and smaller scale.

One result of this work to date is the enormous proliferation of local scan probes.
