Energy Dialogue 2016

On 24 November KTH Energy Platform held its annual conference Energy Dialogue with the purpose to address challenges and visions for sustainability transformation of urban energy systems as seen by the academy, industry and city-regions.

 

KTH Energy Platform held its annual Energy Dialogue on 24 November 2016. This year the event focused on topic of Future Urban Energy Systems. The conference attracted around 170 participants and created the environment where researchers, PhD students, city and industrial partners came together to share ideas about research and innovation, necessary to achieve the transition to a zero-emission society with the cities as cornerstones.

The plenary programme was opened with welcome speech by President of KTH, Sigbritt Karlsson, followed by the first key-note speaker, Eric Masanet, Head of Energy Demand Technology Unit at International Energy Agency, who presented IAE’s insights on sustainable urban energy systems.  The second key-note lecture was delivered by Professor in Energy Planning from Aalborg University, Henrik Lund, who talked about Smart Energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating.

In addition to the key-note lectures the conference featured three panel sessions where KTH researches together with representatives of industrial sector and city administration shared their view on technical potential, strategies and policies required for achieving sustainability of urban energy systems in the future.

Awards

As the last years Energy Dialogue hosted competitions for the best MSc thesis in the energy field, sponsored by Vattenfall, and for the most communicative PhD poster, awarded with the prize from KTH Energy Platform.
