Industrial and Medical Electronics

The research within the area Industrial and Medical Electronics at KTH is focusing on small and smart electronic systems that are aware of their environment, that can process information, communicate wireless and build spontaneous mulit-hop networks. This gives rise to a worldwide and distributed "Internet-of-Everything" which is several orders of magnitude larger than todays Internet. Electronics, as the basic building blocks and visible objects, disappear or are cleverly hidden, but the features are still available, creating so-called Cyber-Physical-Systems. The research is oriented vertically - from new flexible and printed electronics, new circuit and system architectures for high energy efficiency, to demonstrate them in real application environments along with industrial and societal actors. The research is linked to the national VINNOVA Excellence Centre iPack, creating a powerful ecosystem and infrastructure for research in wireless sensors and sensor platforms for the care and welfare, intelligent logistics, "Industry 4.0" and smart cities.
