Shaikh Ikram

Shaikh Ikram appeared in an article published in Dagens Industry – Sweden’s leading business paper – on January 14, 2008.

“I had read a lot about Sweden and I was attracted to the quality of life, the quality of education and at the same time the education is free, he explains.”

Shaikh Ikram chose Information and Communication Systems Security, and he graduated in January 2007. After graduation he visited his family and friends in Pakistan. He wanted to find a job in Europe. After a few months in England he realized that he preferred Sweden over other European countries. After a short while he got his first job. He was within ten days called for nine interviews in different IT companies here in Sweden, which is really an impressive number.

“I started my job in November 2007 in a company called Steria AB - one of the biggest IT service company in EU. I am working as a system consultant in Network communication department. My work is related over Cisco devices which includes firewalls routers switches etc.

He doesn't speak Swedish yet, but English he did not find a lot of problem because of language while working at Steria, so this is not a problem; but he has planned soon to join a Swedish language school.

“I must say that one of my wishes came true today. My decision to leave my family and to start a new life outside my country was perfect, he concludes. I am proud to call my self as a former graduate student of KTH. At the same time I feel really proud to be an example for all the students that came to Sweden for their Masters- especially students from Pakistan.”
