FAV Forum for machine tool users

Within the framework of the KT cluster operations, DMMS initiates the formation of a new forum called FAV – a forum for users of machine tools. The goal is for users from different perspectives of machine tools to be able to meet informally and exchange experiences on everything from screws and nuts to overall life cycle aspects.

A prerequisite for being able to develop the next generation of environmentally friendly and high-performance vehicle systems is that components made of light and high-strength materials are used in their designs. Such components place high demands on optimized machining systems where the capability of the machine tools largely limits the flexibility and accuracy of the machining processes.

In order to be able to utilize the maximum capacity of modern machine tools and thereby optimize the use, deep knowledge and understanding is required in a number of different areas of expertise:

• Training of world-class customer competence
• Standardized specifications and technical regulations
• Machine testing, verification of specifications
• Warranty inspections
• Service and condition-based maintenance (CBM)
• Informal exchange of experience
• Communication with suppliers etc.

About FAV

The forum is, for example, a meeting place where operators and service personnel from different companies can meet and discuss technical aspects concerning tool machines and their use. Within the framework of this forum, DMMS bridges the gap to the latest research results in academia and research institutes.
