Double slam for SUNRISE in the 2023 Sigvard Eklund Prize
Gabriela Lapinska, who worked on her MSc thesis project in SUNRISE WP2 with supervision by Faris Sweidan, Christopher Petersson and Pär Olsson, won the Sigvard Eklund Prize for best MSc thesis in 2023. Diogo Ribeiro Costa, who is working in SUNRISE in his capacity as Principal Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Sweden, won the Sigvard Eklund Prize for best PhD thesis in 2023.

Gabriela's MSc thesis, entitled " Effect of Proton Irradiation on the Mechanical Properties of Fe-10Cr-4Al in Liquid Lead ".
Diogo's PhD thesis, entiteld " Development of Encapsulated UN-UO2 Accident Tolerant Fuel ".
The Sigvard Eklund Prize has been established by SKC (Svenskt Kärntekniskt Centrum) to recognise and reward outstanding academic work by bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students at Swedish universities. Once a year, supervisors and teachers can nominate one or more theses to be considered as the best of its academic level of the year. An independent jury considers the motivation for nomination, the scientific merit and the overall quality of all submitted theses in deciding whom to award.
