Entry requirements for Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure
To be eligible for the master's programme in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure, you must meet the listed admission requirements and submit the documents required in your application. We will assess your application according to the selection criteria set for the programme. The same process applies to students with a bachelor's degree from a Swedish university.
Specific requirements for Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, corresponding to 180 ECTS credits, in the field of civil engineering, environmental engineering or another subject with clear relevance to the programme.
In addition, it is strongly recommended that at least two of the following prerequisites (A-D) are met:
A) Fluid mechanics, 5 ECTS credits AND hydrology, 5 ECTS credits
B) Macroeconomics OR urban and regional planning, 7,5 ECTS credits
C) General chemistry AND/OR environmental soil chemistry, 7,5 ECTS credits
D) Earth science, 6 ECTS credits
Please note that some courses within the programme require a basic knowledge of mathematics corresponding to at least 20 ECTS credits and numerical methods, programming or equivalent, corresponding to at least 6 ECTS credits.
Selection criteria
The selection is based on previous studies (e.g. GPA, relevant courses and English proficiency) and any relevant work experience and/or prior education.
Prior education is evaluated based on the Swedish Higher Education Authority´s standards for Swedish higher education institutions. For international higher education institutions, university rankings are used. The merit rating is carried out on a scale of 1-75.
Acceptance rate
The acceptance rate for the master's programme in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure for 2023 was 30%. We admitted 82 students out of the 278 applicants that met the admission requirements. To increase your chances of getting admitted to KTH, we advise you to select more than one programme when applying. You can apply for up to four programmes and rank them in your order of preference.
