SH2610 Leadership for Safe Nuclear Power Industry 6.0 credits

The course offers a unique opportunity to learn and understand well the role of leadership in nuclear power safety, particularly in safety management, creation of culture for safety, organizational collaboration in theory and practice and communications at different levels.

Content and learning outcomes

Course disposition

The course is generally given on-campus assuming physical attendance of students. Only few lectures can be organised via distance learning. The course contains lectures interspersed with student assignments and seminars.

Organisation in nuclear technology.

Communication and media.

Leadership and theory of organisation.

Intended learning outcomes

After this course, the participants should be able to 

a) Identify situations where the the principle of "safety first" would appear to be in conflict with other operational objectives.

b) Be able to use established system indicators to ensure a high level of safety culture in nuclear organisations.

c)  Communicate information to media and the public about deviations from normal operation which is correct and to the point.
