The course is interdisciplinary and includes evaluation theory - methodology and - practice with a focus on policy and program evaluation.
The main contents are:
- the role of evaluations in society and in organisations, especially in research and education
- evaluation trends and historical development
- evaluation design, implementation and reporting including evaluation methods
- ethics and values connected to evaluation
The general aim of the course is to offer specialised knowledge of evaluations mainly connected to education, research and other public sector.
After passing the course, the student should be able to:
- discuss and compare different theoretical perspectives on evaluation
- analyse a given design and implementation of evaluations
- problematise evaluation practice in policy and administration with special focus on education and knowledge-intensive organisations
- discuss ethical problems at evaluation
