Course contents
Intended learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student can:
- discuss the use of oral source material and its relation to written sources in historical research,
- discuss current theoretical perspectives and methodological discussions on oral history,
- give examples and problematise different ethical aspects.
After passing the course, the student should be able to create and use an oral source material in a way that:
- is best suited to the purpose of their study;
- takes into account how place, time, and power relations affect results;
- demonstrates an understanding of ethical issues and protects the integrity of interviewees.

Specific prerequisites
Eligible applicants are persons who fulfil the prerequisites for admission to doctoral studies in history or other humanities or social science subjects.
Knowledge of English equivalent to English 6.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

- SEM1 - Seminars, 5.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
Seminars include both mandatory assignments and active participation in seminars.
Other requirements for final grade
An attendance rate of at least 80% is necessary for a passing grade.
