Related aspects of heat transfer are discussed with focus on:
- Building ventilation
- Air distribution in buildings
- Heating/cooling in buildings
- Lighting (including daylighting)
- Bio-climatic space-conditioning (natural ventilation, passive cooling/heating, daylighting)
- Indoor environmental quality
- Energy and resource efficiency
- Overall building performance
The objective of this course is to provide a deeper physical and mathematical understanding of the heat transfer processes relevant to indoor environmental management in buildings (as well as related buiding services systems) with key focus on ventilation, heating/cooling and lighting. Relevant issues are discussed with the over-arching goal of achieving high energy efficiency, high indoor environmental quality and user satisfaction, as well as optimal overall building performance.
