Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course deals with how care and health systems are structured and what challenges exist from a production and logistical perspective. In different steps, the student will learn about:

-      Global challenges for sustainable health systems

-      Systems science methods for analyzing healthcare systems from different perspectives, including a patient journey.

-      Logistical concepts and methods for describing and analyzing the production of care.

-      The role of health data in systems analysis

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student must be able to

-      Describe and analyze a patient journey through the care system

-      Discuss a healthcare system with concepts from systems analysis and logistics

-      Propose imporvement measures for a health system using analytical methods including simple simualtions

Examination and completion

  • INL1 - Project report, 4.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • INL2 - Take-home examination, 3.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
