A series of lectures deal with the history and theory of architectural conservation in 19th and 20th century Europe and Sweden. The course literature, which consists of overviews and source texts, is discussed and examined at seminars. An individual assignment is reported at a final seminar.

Intended learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the development of architectural conservation, mainly in Europe and Sweden during the 19th and 20th centuries. After the course, the participant should have a good overview of the field's history and theory and have knowledege of its key references in the form of buildnings, architects, historiography and source texts.

• Documented proficiency in Swedish B and English A or equivalent

- MOM1 - Lectures and Seminars, 5.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
- MOM2 - Assignment, 2.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
Other requirements for final grade
The course contains two moments:
MOM1, Lectures and seminars, 5hp, grade P,F
MOM2, Assignment, 2,5hp, grade P,F
For final grade, both moments have to be passed, and 80% attendance at all tuition is required.
