Ecodesign

Ecodesign

Industrial products are all compromises between many demands and constraints. Functionality and business performance are mostly the dominants. Some products can easily be transformed in a more sustainable direction. In other cases the environmental impact is directly connected to the functionality. The more we use the car the larger the impact. In still other cases the environmental demands have contradictory elements. More material in power cables means lower resistance and reduction of energy losses.

In Life Cycle Design, environmental demands are added and integrated, as early as possible, into the product development process. Which means that environmental demands have to coexist with traditional requirements and constraints. The main interest of the EcoDesign group is to examine the conditions for and to provide help in creating a sustainable future by improving recycling, energy savings and products well suited for its purpose.
