Assignment ( INL1 )

There are two options in the individual assignment and the course participants are free to choose between 1) a longer written assignment, and 2) a shorter written assignment in combination with oral examination.

An initial version of the written individual assignment is submitted in Canvas. The teachers give oral feedback at the last course meeting and written feedback in Canvas in connection with the last course meeting. The assessment is holistic and is based on the learning outcomes, the task description and the assessment criteria. The purpose of the feedback is formative. The last course meeting also includes peer review, which is given both orally and in writing. Participation in the peer and teacher feedback is a mandatory learning activity.

The course participants are encouraged to further develop their text on the basis of the feedback they have received from both teachers and peers.

A final version of the individual assignment is submitted in Canvas, after which the course participants who have chosen to submit a shorter written assignment in combination with oral examination are offered a meeting for the oral part.

Both the draft version and the final version of the written submission will be tested for plagiarism in a text-matching tool.

Project Assignment ( PRO1 )

In order to pass the course, you must follow and participate in the teamwork during one course offering/semester.

Other requirements for final grade

The course requires active participation in the timetabled course meetings, of which compulsory attendance is required at the following course meetings:

- Compulsory attendance at the first course meeting

- Compulsory attendance at the oral assessing seminars (part of the project task)

- Compulsory attendance at the oral assessing seminar (part of the individual assignment)

In consultation with course coordinator, the course participant can be given the opportunity to compensate for at most two missed meetings through complementary assignments.

Alternatives to missed activities or tasks

Attendance on meetings are compulsory in order to pass the course. If you cannot attend class meeting 1, you have to apply for another course offering.  Class meetings 8, 9 and 10 are examining meetings. You can be absent from maximum two of meetings 2-7 but are highly recommended to attend. Supplementary task  may be used.

Ethical approach

  • All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
  • In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
  • In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.

Fx and F

The individual assignment
When Fx is given and a revision or supplement is required
Submissions that partially correspond to the task description and/or partially meet the criteria for pass will be given Fx and a revision/supplement should be made in writing within three weeks.
• The course participants are given written information via Canvas about which aspects of the submission that must be revised/supplemented in order to meet the requirements for pass.
• If the revised/supplemented version does not meet the requirements for pass, the grade F is reported in Ladok.
• The possibility of revising/supplementing an Fx is only given within the specified time frame. If the revised/supplemented version is not submitted within three weeks, F is reported in Ladok.
• Revisions/supplements have to be done in writing and must be submitted in Canvas.

The grade F
The grade F is reported in Ladok when: - A submission does not correspond at all to the task description of the assignment. - A submission in which all or most of the requirements for approval are not met. - A submission that, after a revision/supplement, does not meet the requirements for pass.
• Course participants who got the grade F are given the opportunity to submit a new assignment in connection with the next course round's regular submission.
• If a submission after revision/supplement has received the grade F, the course participant must submit a completely new text, i.e. a new text with new examples, not a revised version.
• If a course participant's submission has gotten the grade F twice, the course participant is encouraged to re-take the course and participate in both class meetings and peer review.
