Content and learning outcomes
Course contents
In this course, the participants are expected to develop their proficiency in:
writing a scientific research proposal - outlining, drafting, and revising
peer reviewing of other course participants' texts
preparing and effectively conveying scientific results through oral presentations
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the doctoral student should have the knowledge and ability to:
identify good scientific style and text structure
apply the knowledge in scientific writing and research methodology to write a scientific research proposal within the specialized subject area of the course
prepare and deliver an oral presentation that clearly explains a project within the own subject area
critically review one's own and others' scientific texts and oral presentations through constructive criticism on, for example, content, text structure, and sentence structure, as well as apply criticism in the revision of one's own texts and oral presentations

Support for students with disabilities
Students at KTH with a permanent disability can get support during studies from Funka:

SEM1 - Seminars, 5.0 credits, Grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
Other requirements for final grade
Active participation in 80% of the seminar sessions, which includes presenting and actively participating in discussions of scientific work.
Ethical approach
All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
