Competence centres

The department is heavily involved in three centres for research excellence, education collaboration and life long learning. We also collaborate with other competence centres at KTH and other universities.

Drill and sparks

Design & Management of Manufacturing Systems – DMMS

DMMS is a research and education center with the purpose to secure this competence. DMMS addresses the manufacturing of advanced, capital and knowledge intensive mechanical parts, such as automotive powertrain parts. A specific emphasis is put on the machining processes and the utilisation of digital models and information feedback.

Excellence in production research (XPRES)

XPRES is an internationally competitive platform for production research. It is a research and education environment within advanced production, made to meet future challenges in the production area and create lasting value for Swedish manufacturing industry and society.

KTH Lean Centre

KTH Lean Centre is a competence centre where theoretical research and practical implementations on sustainable business development meet. Our vision is to be Sweden's leading competence centre for insights and abilities linked to management and systematic improvement of work processes and organisations. Leancentrum offers training, seminars and qualified coaching for both business and the public sector.
