R&I programme management - organization design and value creation in the High Capacity Transport programme
About the project R&I programme management – organization design and value creation in the High Capacity Transport programme
Aim and objectives:
This research project was initiated with the aim to describe and analyze the management of the innovation process within the R&I-programme focused on HCT (High capacity Programme). The HCT-program has since it was initiated involved more than 20 partners in both public and private sectors, including Swedish governmental agencies, a number of large companies (Scania, Volvo, DHL etc) and research institutions, universities, vehicle manufacturers, manufacturing industry (buyers of transports), and logistics service providers, and aimed to introduce high-capacity vehicles in the Swedish transport system. The program is open to all interested actors.
Background:
Since 2015 KTH/INDEK has had a senior researcher following the project execution and being an academic support resource for the program management. This continuous evaluation of HCT-programs process itself has both supported the continuation of the program and created knowledge for future similar research programs at Trafikverket.
This research project addresses the interplay between organization designs and value creation processes in the context of industrial research and innovation programs. The research contributes to the program management research since it questions the static character of existing program typologies by focusing on coevolution of value creation and program arrangements over the program lifecycle, and it shows that programs can evolve and transcend a single set of organizational arrangements. Building on these results, this research has created an impact that emphasizes a value-driven dynamic approach to R&I program organization design which is important since program management is becoming increasingly widespread and important for the modern economy and society.
