Project description
In the project Biointeractive Fibres we have developed antibacterial cellulose fibers, made in a water-based process that kills the bacteria without releasing any substances. No antibacterial substance is released from the fiber, in contrast to for instance silver that leaches and pollutes the surrounding environment. Instead, the bacteria are inactivated when they come into contact with the material.
The resulting fibres can be used in hygiene products, filters and in the health-care but the techniques show potential for other applications as well.
