Template for project plan, KTH Field Studies

Here you will find information on how your project description for KTH Field Studies should be structured and what it should contain.

You need to describe your project in English in a 2-4 page project plan. You can add the reference list to the project plan (it does not need to be included in the 2-4 pages).

The project plan needs to include the following:

  • Background, theory, aim and method. What type of data will you collect and how will you analyze it? For example, describe how you will conduct the interviews if you plan on doing interviews.
  • Research proposal – including information on how your project is connected to a few specific Sustainable Development Goals and how your research will be able to address these SDGs. Include a reflection on how the project can be implemented and create value for the host country/organisation. Also mention which of the seven priorities* that the government has established for Swedish development cooperation to which the project can be linked.
  • Feasability, implementation and expected results. Write about the feasibility also in connection to your own studies and skills. How are you planning on requiring the skills you need for the project?
  • Progression: Is it a continuation of a previous project, or does it have connections to an earlier or ongoing project?
  • Which role will the contact person have, and how will you cooperate?
  • Risk assessment: There must be a clear idea of what risks the study may entail for your personal safety and the safety of persons involved in the host country, as well as how you should avoid exposing yourself and others to these risks.
  • Ethics: Relevant ethical reflections based on the study you want to conduct, as well as whether the host country requires permission to conduct the study.
  • Dissemination and communication: Write briefly about your plan for disseminating and communicating the results of your study to relevant local, national, and international actors.
  • Timetable.
  • Budget. Including travel to and from the host country, accommodation and other living expenses, vaccinations, visas and any equipment you may need. Also state how you will finance your field studies (with for example the FS travel grant, a study loan, other scholarships, own resources etc.).
  • Reference list (does not need to be included in the 2-4 pages).
