Dual master’s degree

Exchange studies for a dual master's degree is an opportunity for master's students at KTH to study one or two semesters of their programme at a partner university and receive master's degrees from both KTH and the partner institution.

1. Find out when an exchange for a dual master's degree is suitable

In most cases, you spend the first year of the master's programme at KTH, followed by one semester or a year at a partner university. To be eligible, you must be a student on a master's programme offering exchange for a dual master's degree and have passed all mandatory courses. The international coordinator associated with your programme will help you find an exchange option that suits you.

2. Examine potential exchange universities

You can do an exchange for a dual master's degree with selected universities through special agreements that differ depending on which master's programme you are admitted to.

3. Prepare your language

You may need to improve your language skills to manage your studies abroad. KTH has a wide range of credit-giving language courses, language partner programmes and language cafes we recommend you participate in.

4. Complete an application

You apply for an exchange for a dual master's degree in the same order as regular exchange studies. You will find the application dates on the page linked below.

5. Nomination and preparation

As soon as the exchange spots are allocated, we will notify you if you are nominated for exchange studies. Your international coordinator will contact you and give you advice on how to prepare for your studies at the exchange university.
