Active measures against discrimination
Active measures are preventive and proactive work within an organisation to counteract discrimination and promote equal rights and opportunities regardless of gender, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation, or age.
The provisions in the Discrimination Act 2008:567, 3 chapter are imperative and must be fulfilled following the law. KTH must work with active measures both as an employer and an education provider.
About the work with active measures
- It shall be active and preventive and is to support equal rights and opportunities for all, and to equalise differences in conditions between different groups.
- It shall be done in cooperation with employees and students.
- It shall be integrated into the regular planning of operations and work with work and study environments.
- It shall be completed as soon as possible.
- It shall be followed up and evaluated.
- It shall be documented yearly.
- It shall be performed on all levels at KTH.
Education providers are to work with active measures in five areas:
- Admission and recruitment procedures
- Forms of instruction and organisation of training
- Examinations and assessment of student performance
- Study environment
- Opportunities to combine studies with parenthood
Discrimination and harassment
Employers and education providers are required to have guidelines and routines for the organisation to prevent discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment and victimisation, as well as to follow up and evaluate the guidelines and routines that are in place.
