Quick reference guide for printing with plotter printers
To be able to print on a plotter printer at the School of Architecture you need to
Purchase print quota for KTH-Print
, if you do not already have quota available.
Please note that only PDF files should be printed on plotter printers, therefore it is important to first convert other file types to PDF format before printing.
It is also important to change the print quality from 1200dpi to 300dpi, in order for the file to print.
When you are going to print on a plotter printer, it is best to convert your files to PDF files. This is best done by using the "pdf printer" Adobe PDF.
The instructions that follow are made for Affinity Designer, but similar steps also apply to Adobe applications with the difference that you must log in to the Adobe Creative Cloud app to access the Adobe PDF "printer",

Start the program you worked with your file, and open your file
Select "File" and then select "Print" button.
Select Adobe PDF as the printer in the drop-down menu (1) and click "Properties" (2)
Click on the "Layout" tab (1) and then on "Advanced..." (2)
If you want to create a custom size for the PDF file, select "PostScript Custom Page Size" under "Paper Size" (1) and set the size in width and height (2)
It is important now to change the DPI to 300 under "Print Quality" (1). Then click OK (2) until you get to the original dialogue box and click "Print" to save the PDF file.
Open your PDF file, press print and select one of the plotter printer in the drop-down menu.
Select "Actual size". Select "Auto portrait/landscape".
Click the "Properties" button so it shows the interface in the next step.
In the "Paper/Quality tab", select the size you want to print (A2, A1, A0 or custom). You can change the slider position for the quality.
If you want to print a custom sized file, click the "Custom..." button.
Select "Millimeters" as unit. Set the values in the boxes. Remember, the width can only be 1066.8 since that is the actual width of the paper roll.
Select a name and then click on "Save" to save the custom settings. Click OK.
Press OK when you have selected the settings you wanted.
Make sure the preview matches how you want the print to come out from the plotter printer and press "Print".
Blip your card on the respective card reader at the plotter printer, and your printout will be printed in queue order.
