Next big export hit: Algorithmica Research

Published Jan 10, 2007

Risk analysis operator and adviser Algorithmica Research AB has been awarded the ”Go Global Award 2006” from Stockholm Innovation & Growth (STING), with multi-entrepreneur and “business witch” Katarina Bonde at the head. According to the Prize Jury, Algorithmica Research may well be the most viable of all success ventures included in STING´s programme (see below); it is also believed that Algorithmica´s services is the next large export venture to come from Sweden.

The Jury consists of a panel of international risk capitalists from Vision Capital in GB, Eqvitec in Finland, Amadeus Capital Partners, also from GB, and the Swedish-American venture Pod Holding. This is why they thought so highly of Algorithmica:

"The winner of Go Global Award 2006, Algorithmica Research, has achieved a proof of concept that they really add value to large players who sell to rich customers. They have a world leading first partner, without exclusivity, who is motivated to sell their products. They have used their Swedish home market in an intelligent way with good local reference customers. They have a simple and implementable strategy."

– Algorithmica Research has managed to gain a domestic stronghold on their own home market, explains Ulf Brandels, business coach at STING. They also found a leading partner who is supporting their international expansion.
Under the auspices of STING´s Go Global programme, six high-tech companies are developing their export strategies during a series of ten joint workshops. Each of these is led by renowned persons with entrepreneurial skills, who have introduced their own line of business on foreign markets. Some of these are Hans Otterling, founder of Streamserve, and a number of company CEO´s: Martin Thunman of Packetfront, Ulf Sundström, Micronic Lasersystems, and Xavier Aubry of Appear Networks.

A common feature of the companies participating is, that they are all well into sales here in Sweden – yet none of them has started an international effort in exports. The Go Global training programme is instrumental in supporting successful strategies and the right rate, and type, of expansion; this will ensure a sound and cost-effective foreign business effort.
Apart from the fact that KTH are already greatly involved in STING, some direct ties exist between us and Algorithmica, too: Their company staff includes both a number of our undergraduates in Engineering Physics as well as IT, and also Boualem Djehiche and Jan Enger, Professor and Senior Lecturer, respectively, in Matematical Statistics at KTH; both of these are serving on Algorithmica´s advisory board.
