Lokatt

Helmets for those who enjoy the mountains and care for the planet.

The team behind Lokatt, all master's degree students in Innovation Management and Product Development from the Department of Machine Design, first contacted KTH Innovation in the fall of 2017, with the idea of making the world's first helmet made of bio-based materials without compromising on performance.

Founder Rickard Croy:

"If you ride at a high level, you don’t compromise on safety. But a sustainable mindset is about so much more than just material choice. We also look at the possibility of having a "return system" for the helmet, which gives a discount on the next helmet purchase when you return the old one – and we recover the materials. We do all of this to reduce the negative impact on our environment that material consumption leads to."

For the skilled mountain explorer who actively speaks up for the environment, and demands cutting-edge protective gear, Lokatt gives the rider the ability to make a pro-environmental statement without compromising on safety, comfort or style. Lokatt is a helmet that is almost entirely made from bio-based materials, yet with high performance.
