KTH Innovation Challenge Flemingsberg: Tech for better health
Are you a KTH researcher, employee, or student with an idea that could prevent disease, improve diagnosis, or provide more efficient health care processes and treatments? Could you somehow improve someone’s health using technology? Are you based at Campus Flemingsberg? Then KTH Innovation has a challenge for you.
Apply to the KTH Innovation Challenge: Tech for better health, and you can win 20 000 SEK Proof of Concept funding to use in developing your idea towards the market, where it can benefit more people.
Your idea can be anything from a new medical device, digital health solutions such as an app that promotes an active lifestyle, a novel way of preventing disease, or a new method to be used in healthcare.
Applying only takes ten minutes. To join the challenge, your idea or research results just need to be tech-based, and the majority of your team needs to have a current affiliation to KTH as a student, researcher or employee. Who can join the challenge?
Join the challenge if:
- You have a tech-based idea or project that in some way can contribute to better health
- You are currently a student, researcher or employee at KTH Campus Flemingsberg
- The core of the project team is from KTH (min. 50 % ownership by KTH researchers/students/employees)
Deadline and participation
The deadline is December 2nd, 23.59.
To apply, submit your idea using this form . You will be asked to:
- Describe the idea/project (max 4000 characters) according to the NABC model
- Need: Why is your solution needed? What problems do you seek to solve?
- Approach: What is your solution (technical solution and business concept)? How does your solution relate to the theme of the challenge, Tech for better health?
- Benefits: What are the benefits/values for the user/customer/health sector/patient?
- Competition: What makes your idea unique? What are the alternatives and competition?
- Current status (max ca 1500 characters)
- Description of the status of the project and what you have done so far
- Motivation and plan (use of the prize money), (max ca 1500 characters)
- Describe your plan, how you would use the funding, and how it would advance your project
What can I win?
- The winning project will receive costs covered up to 20 000 SEK to develop their idea and fund relevant activities. The team will also receive support from KTH Innovation.
- Relevant activities are such that are aimed at developing the project towards the market. Examples can be activities to meet potential users, customers and partners, developing a demo or prototype to use in tests or market activities, or carrying out pilot trials.
- The final budget, activities, and costs will be decided in discussion with KTH Innovation.
- Funding cannot be used to file patents, pay salaries, or conduct research-related activities.
Who will win?
The most promising project will be selected from the following criteria:
- Innovative, i.e. is it unique and/or novel in different important aspects
- Realizable, i.e. is it feasible to develop the project and bring to market
- Potential, i.e. does it have market potential and the possibility of commercialization
The evaluation process will be carried out by KTH Innovation. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for interviews. After the application period ends on December 2nd, 23.59, evaluation will be performed by KTH Innovation. Jury decisions are final.
