Swedish for employees at KTH
KTH Language and Communication offers Swedish courses for employees. We also offer packages for school groups and can tailor courses for groups with special needs. Contact us and together we can find a solution that suits you! All courses are fast-paced.
What will I gain from learning Swedish?
If you know the local language, it will be easier to become part of the community at work and in society. If you know Swedish, you are more likely to be successful and want to stay in Sweden.
It also increases your chances of having a career at KTH. Often, knowledge of Swedish is a prerequisite for you to be able to participate in and take on tasks that are regulated by our official mission.
Tailor-made courses
KTH Language and Communication offers courses in Swedish for those who are recruited internationally. We can tailor the course to your needs and those of KTH.
During the lessons you will practise speaking Swedish. We talk about social issues, Swedish culture, KTH as a workplace and your professional role.
We can also offer individual tuition. The private lessons are completely tailored to your needs and wishes.

Courses in Autumn 2024
- Swedish for beginners A1 - Mondays 15:00-17:00 or Fridays 9:00-11:00
- Swedish for advanced beginners A2 - Tuesdays 15:00-17:00
- Swedish lower intermediate B1 - Mondays 15:00-17:00
- Swedish higher intermediate B2 - Wednesdays 15:00-17:00

New course: Swedish for Teaching in Higher Education - Fridays 13:00-15:00
The courses consist of 14 lessons of 90 minutes each throughout the whole semester (weeks 35-50, except for the weeks 42 and 43). The course Swedish for Teaching in Higher Education has a total of 5 sessions. Participants are limited to 25. In order to proceed to a higher level, the participant must pass an oral and a written final examination. This also applies to obtaining a certificate showing course completion. The courses do not provide academic credits.
Course registration
The registration for the Autum semester 2024 is closed, but some courses might still have free spots. Please fill in the application form below and we will let you know if you have been allocated a spot or placed on the waiting list after 18 August, when the form is closed.
Course fee
- Course fee: SEK 7 940 (Swedish for Teaching in Higher Education: SEK 6 260). The fee is charged to the participant's school.
- Course fee for external participants: SEK 10 000.
Course literature is not included in the price.
Cancellation
The application is binding. In case of cancellation, the following applies:
- Four weeks before the start of the course, 25 percent of the course fee will be charged.
- Three weeks before the start of the course, 50 percent of the course fee will be charged.
- Two weeks before the start of the course, the course fee is charged in full.
- In case of illness with presentation of a doctor's certificate, an administration fee of SEK 500, excluding VAT, is charged.
