Research inventory
In 1932, the first professorship was established in the field of Real Estate Planning at KTH. The research that has been conducted and published at KTH over the next 90 years in the subject areas of Real Estate Planning-Real Estate Law has so far not been documented and analyzed in one context.
The purpose of this research review is to inventory, document and systematize the Real Estate Planning-Real Estate Law research that has been conducted and published at KTH. The report also provides an overview of the formal emergence and development of the subject area at KTH.
As a basis for the report, an extensive literature search has been carried out, covering the research published in the subject area, which is presented in the list of publications in the report's appendix.
A thematic and temporal classification of different research orientations from the 1930s until today results in the following division:
- Agriculture and forestry, period 1930 – 1970
- Recreational buildings and urban growth, period 1960 – 1990
- Land development, period 1980 – ongoing
- New forms of property rights and tenures etc., period 1990 – ongoing
- Historically oriented research, entire period
The report also describes the forms of publication and the internationalization of the subject area and research orientations that has taken place from the 1970s onwards.
The thematic report and analysis show that the subject area in Real Estate Planning-Real Estate Law has undergone a continuous variation over time, clearly linked to the changing land use needs created by societal development in general. At the same time, there is a lasting core in the subject that has permeated the research, regardless of era and focus. The theme that unites through the ages is the property unit in one form or another and its functional connection to the surrounding technical infrastructure.
The report also includes a brief biographical presentation of the holders of the professorships in Real Estate Planning and Real Estate Law, respectively.
