Bibliometrics
Bibliometrics can be defined as the quantitative study of publication collections and is used as an integral part of KTH's quality work. Bibliometric data also provides input to the various rankings performed at the international level, and is thus an important instrument for KTH's relevance to the outside world.

The KTH Library carries out bibliometric analyses on behalf of KTH's management, but we can also produce tailor-made analyses based on your specific questions, whether you work in KTH's management or in practical research. What is bibliometrics?
Bibliometrics can be defined as the quantitative study of publication collections. The Bibliometric group at KTH produces statistics for the publishing of KTH, impact measured on the basis of citations and co-publishing. Common uses for bibliometric analyses are follow-up of publishing activity and support for future publishing strategy.
Bibliometrics at KTH
There are many different areas of use for bibliometrics at KTH, and the library's Bibliometrics group can help analysing the results depending on what you need to know. It could, for example, be about management needing to make strategic decisions regarding schools' publishing, or gaining an understanding of how KTH's research is disseminated nationally and internationally. This knowledge can provide important keys in developing core activities at different levels.

The Bibliometrics group produces different kinds of analyses:
- Bibliometric indicator for resource allocation.
- Indicators to the indicator report of KTH.
- Bibliometric analyses on the behalf of the management of KTH, for instance co-publishing and benchmarking analyses.
- External analyses for other universities and institutes.
Order a bibliometric analysis
The Bibliometrics group conducts analyses internally for KTH and for other universities and organizations active in research. The team does extensive analyses with statistical compilations as well as delivers bibliometric indicator values for a given set of publications. Altmetrics – another way to measure research impact
Another way of measuring publication impact is through altmetrics, ie how research reaches out in news, social media and other channels outside the traditional scientific sphere.
